Golden Gate Catering (GGC)
Overview
Golden Gate Catering is a San Francisco–based startup focused on upscale, large-scale commercial event catering. Closely tied to the iconic nightlife venue at 715 Harrison Street, GGC serves a vibrant mix of corporate, social, and nightlife-driven events across the Bay Area.
Assignment
Create a compelling visual identity system—including logo, typography, and promotional materials—that captures the energy of the brand and its unique connection to San Francisco’s events and hospitality scene.
Execution
Through close collaboration with the founding team, I developed a full visual identity system, including a custom logomark and a suite of introductory menus.
One of the highlights of the project was my proposal for a brand mascot: a charming, expressive character named “Gully the Seagull.” The team loved it. Gully adds a sense of personality and local flair to the brand—drawing inspiration from the nostalgic 49-Mile Scenic Drive signs that dot San Francisco. This subtle nod to city heritage offered a refreshing alternative to expected visual clichés like bridges and skyline silhouettes.
I also worked in tandem with a food stylist and photographer to create a polished visual toolkit that feels editorial, inviting, and elevated—perfectly tailored for both print and digital applications.
